コスタクルーズの客船「コスタ セレーナ」は、第20回アジア競技大会の公式宿泊施設のひとつとして、名古屋港・金城ふ頭に停泊し、大会期間中、43の国・地域から参加する約4,000人の選手およびチーム関係者を受け入れています。
「コスタ セレーナ」は9月15日に名古屋港へ入港しました。同船を所有・運航するコスタクルーズは、JTB名古屋および愛知・名古屋アジア競技大会組織委員会（AINAGOC）と連携し、「競技と競技の間の時間を過ごす選手に、本当に必要なものは何か」という一つの問いを出発点として、船内を選手・大会関係者のための宿泊施設へと整備しました。
その考え方は、船内のさまざまな設備やサービスに反映されています。
食事の提供時間は、通常のクルーズ運航時のスケジュールではなく、選手のトレーニングや競技時間に合わせて設定されています。メニューについても、競技ごとに異なる選手の栄養面でのニーズを考慮して開発するとともに、多様な食事要件に対応したメニューを用意。競技時間が異なる選手一人ひとりが、それぞれに適した食事を必要な時間に取ることができる環境を整えています。
より快適な宿泊環境を提供するため、長身の選手が多い競技については、通常より長いベッドを備えた客室も用意しました。
また、船内のフィットネスエリアは今回のプロジェクトに合わせて拡張・再整備され、新たな専用トレーニングゾーンも設置されています。これにより、各選手団は船を離れることなく、日々のトレーニングやコンディショニングを継続することができます。
船内には十分なスタッフを配置したメディカルセンターを設置し、大会の医療サービスと直接連携して運営しています。選手団は船内で迅速に医療サポートを受けられるほか、必要に応じて大会公式の医療ネットワークへスムーズにつなぐ体制も整えられています。
プールや温浴施設、静かに過ごすことのできるスペースなどは、選手のリカバリーのためのエリアとして活用されています。客室についても、トレーニングや競技の合間に十分な休息を確保できる環境づくりを重視しています。競技生活の中で、ともすれば短くなりがちな「休む時間」を守ることも、今回の宿泊環境づくりにおける重要なテーマのひとつです。
金城ふ頭は、名古屋港周辺に集まる複数の競技会場へのアクセスにも優れています。選手は船を降りると、そのまま専用シャトルバスを利用して各競技会場へ移動することができます。
また、中部国際空港からの移動や各競技会場への交通についても大会組織委員会と連携して計画されており、移動に要する時間をできる限り短縮することで、選手のトレーニングや休息のための時間を確保しています。船内のゲストサービスデスクは、多言語対応で24時間運営されています。
客室は国・地域別の選手団単位ではなく、競技種目ごとに割り当てられています。船内には、柔道や体操をはじめとする18競技に参加する選手団が宿泊します。
コスタクルーズのチーフ・コマーシャル・オフィサー（CCO）兼シニア・バイス・プレジデント、 フランチェスコ・ムーリア（Francesco Muglia）は、次のように述べています。

翌朝に競技を控えた選手に必要なのは、適切な時間に取ることのできる適切な食事、トレーニングできる場所、身体を回復させるための環境、そして静かに休める客室です。私たちは、まさにそのための環境を整えました。ぜひ多くの皆様に実際に船内をご覧いただきたいと思っています」

「『コスタ セレーナ』は、日本で開催される大規模イベントにおいて、クルーズ船を洋上ホテルとして活用する初めての事例となります。今回のプロジェクトは、大規模イベントに対してクルーズ船が提供できる柔軟性と価値を示すものです。
宿泊、食事、トレーニング、リカバリー、交流のためのスペースをひとつの施設に集約できるクルーズ船は、新たな恒久施設を建設することなく、大規模な一時的宿泊需要に対応することができます。同時に、数千人の参加者に、他にはない特別な体験を提供することも可能です。

「コスタ セレーナ」は、10月6日まで名古屋港・金城ふ頭に停泊する予定です。

Costa Serena is one of the official accommodations of the 20th Asian Games. During the Games the ship will host around 4,000 athletes and team officials from 43 nationalities at Kinjo Pier, Port of Nagoya.

The ship docked in Nagoya on 15 September. Costa Crociere, the company that owns and operates the vessel, worked with JTB Nagoya and AINAGOC, the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games Organising Committee, to convert Costa Serena into a residence designed around a single question: what does an athlete need in the hours between two competitions?

The answer shaped every deck. Dining hours were rebuilt around training and competition schedules rather than around cruise timetables. Menus were developed to meet athletes' nutritional requirements across different disciplines, with tailored options for a variety of dietary needs, ensuring that athletes competing at different times of the day have access to the right meals at the right time.

As a confirmation of the efforts aimed at a providing a perfect accommodation, for disciplines with taller competitors’ cabins were configured with extended-length bedding. The fitness centre, pools and thermal areas were purposed as recovery space.
A Medical Centre operates on board in coordination with Games medical services, and a multilingual guest service desk runs 24 hours.

A fully staffed Medical Centre operates on the ship in direct coordination with the Games medical services, giving delegations immediate on-site care and a clear referral path into the official Games medical network.
Pools, thermal areas and quiet zones were repurposed as recovery space, and cabins were configured to protect rest between sessions - the part of an athlete's day that usually gets squeezed.
Kinjo Pier sits alongside the cluster of competition venues at the port, and athletes step off the ship directly onto dedicated shuttles. Transfers from Chubu Centrair and onward venue connections were planned with the Organising Committee, cutting travel time that would otherwise come out of training and rest. A multilingual guest service desk runs 24 hours.

Cabins are allocated by sport rather than by national delegation. Delegations competing in 18 disciplines, including judo and gymnastics, are housed on board.

"Across our fleet we look after thousands of people every single day of the year. The difference here is who we are looking after. An athlete competing tomorrow morning needs the right meal at the right hour, a place to train, a way to recover and a quiet cabin. That is what we built, and we would be delighted to show it to anyone who wants to come and see it."

Costa Serena will remain berthed at Kinjo Pier until 6 October.
